As part of the creative team, we developed the concept “Brighten their holiday. Enrich their everyday”, aiming to create a joyful holiday moment while communicating the value of giving the gift of The Atlantic, which is access to the best journalism every day. A custom deck of cards became the central visual, linking traditional play with the new digital experience. We drew inspiration from The Atlantic’s literary font, Garamond, and stylized it in all caps and italics. Combined with a cream and black color palette, this created a style reminiscent of printed book typography. Using images of the selected books, we animated them by blurring and fading them in and out of the frame to reflect the campaign tagline: “The overlooked. You become a BFF after you have read 12 books and once you do, you start receiving perks like this tote and free books. The approach for this design was creating a tote that would interact with our product— as well as a good oportunnity to show off our books.
